Description

Arpenans and Region Geographical Location Arpenans is a small village in the Haute-Saône department of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, located about fifteen kilometers from Lure, in the direction of Villersexel. The village sits at an altitude of 314 meters. The hill, Mont Gédry, overlooks Arpenans. History Remains of ancient buildings, as well as utensils and jewelry, have been found in Arpenans, proving that the area was inhabited very early on. Heritage and Culture The Saint-Valère church in Arpenans is of Romanesque origin, but it was rebuilt in the 18th century. Of the original building, only the Romanesque apse with its semi-dome vault, and a Gothic seigneurial chapel, remain. [TEXT TO BE DEFINED MANOR BUILDING]. Tourism The summit of Mont Gédry is a popular destination for hikers. Crowned with a statue of the Virgin Mary, this hill overlooks Lure and offers a beautiful view of the Vosges Saônoises mountains. A 45-minute drive away is the Plateau des Mille Étangs (Plateau of a Thousand Ponds), part of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park. This is a beautiful region with meadows, forests, streams, and lakes. There are numerous ways to explore the area, including hiking, mountain biking and cycling trails, horseback riding, scenic drives, fishing, cultural sites, and museums.
