
step Jons – Lyon of'EuroVelo 17 – ViaRhôna It is a true link between the vast natural spaces of the Lyon region and the vibrant cultural scene of the metropolis. nearly 27 kmThis route takes you by bike along the Jonage canal, through the Grand Parc de Miribel-Jonage, up to banks of the Rhône, right in the heart of Lyon, a city listed in the Unesco World Heritage.
The route begins in the peaceful countryside of Jons, on the left bank of the Jonage canal. Although not officially marked, the greenway is easy to follow: after crossing the Jonage bridgeWe continue along the left bank until we reach a discreet ramp leading to the entrance of the Grand Parc de Miribel-Jonage, approximately 600 meters after the Herbens bridge. This iconic park of 2 200 hectares, born from the development of the Miribel and Jonage canals, is a haven of biodiversity, punctuated by lakes, beaches, forests and meadowsIt is a popular place for relaxation, where people mingle water sports, walks and activities focused on the environment.
Upon leaving the park, the route passes under the highway and then joins a cycle track well laid out, right up to the famous Canal Fleas in Villeurbanne. At this point, we cross the Jonage canal again via the Croix Luizet bridge, before following a cycle path parallel to the motorway which gradually leads to Lyon. There, the banks of the Rhône welcome you for a superb urban journey, all the way to the Guillotière bridge.
The route offers some variants One of the most pleasant is to go back up towards the Park head gold, by taking the quays at the Winston Churchill Bridge. This large park of 117 hectares, between zoo, tropical greenhouses and rose garden, is an ideal stopover before entering the city centre.
Arrival at Lyon is full of discoveries: Old Lyon, Fourvière hill, Croix-Rousse, peninsula, and the contemporary Confluence district, where the Confluence MuseumA true architectural icon. On the banks of the Saône, continue to the Renaissance quarter for a historical immersion.
