The greenway linking Cannes to Nice invites you to discover the French Riviera in a new way, along a 35,5 km route integrated into the Mediterranean by Bike / EuroVelo 8 cycle route in the heart of the Alpes-Maritimes. This mostly flat section, with smooth cycle paths along 75% of the route, appeals to both families and experienced cyclists. Starting in Cannes, the route passes through iconic landmarks such as the Croisette, with its breathtaking views of the Lérins Islands. The palm-lined Bocca Cabana seafront is a popular spot for sports enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation. Further along, Juan-les-Pins welcomes you with its lively beaches, perfect for a family break. In Antibes, the Vauban port and its covered market offer an authentic Mediterranean atmosphere.
The cycle path continues towards Villeneuve-Loubet, where the marina and its impressive yachts captivate the eye. Cagnes-sur-Mer offers a dedicated section that will delight cyclists with its smooth route all the way to Nice. The Voie Verte La littorale is a cycle route that extends from Nice to Villeneuve Loubet, passing through Cagnes-sur-Mer.
This is an ideal cycle path for families who want to discover the magnificent landscapes of the French Riviera while engaging in a sporting activity.
This greenway is perfectly suited to families, as it offers an almost flat route, ideal for children's bikes. Furthermore, the path surface is recent and well-maintained, making for a pleasant and safe ride.
To begin this family bike ride, you can start from the port of Nice. From the port, you'll cycle along the Quai Cassini, which is part of the major port redevelopment project. Continuing along the route, you'll pass the Quai Rauba Capeu, which offers a magnificent panoramic view of the sea and the Bay of Angels. You can also admire Castle Hill, with its famous waterfall and Bellanda Tower.
Next, you'll cycle along the Quai des États-Unis, where you can admire works of art such as Bernard Venet's monumental sculpture "Les 9 lignes obliques" and Auguste Bartholdi's Statue of Liberty. You'll also pass by the first beaches of the Baie des Anges. It's important to stay on the bike paths and respect other users, especially pedestrians, to avoid accidents.
The walk continues along the famous Promenade des Anglais, which stretches along the entire Bay of Nice to the airport. You'll pass iconic landmarks such as the Palais de la Méditerranée, the gardens of Villa Masséna, and the Negresco Hotel. Along the way, you'll find pergolas, comfortable benches, and the famous blue chairs of Nice, perfect for taking a break and enjoying the view.
The second part of the walk, a gentle downhill slope, begins at the Palais de l'Agriculture and runs alongside the Lenval Hospital to the last beaches of Carras. You can then take a 3-meter-wide section reserved for pedestrians and cyclists, which will lead you to the airport. You will cross the Napoleon III Bridge, which offers exceptional views of the mountains of the Nice hinterland.
Continuing along your route, you'll pass the charming marina of Saint-Laurent-du-Var, where the seafront is entirely pedestrianized. You'll find plenty of bars and restaurants where you can take a break before continuing on to Cagnes-sur-Mer.
The port of Cros de Cagnes, a once-thriving fishing port, still shelters the colorful boats of a few fishermen. You can also enjoy the Jardin de la Villette in Cagnes-sur-Mer, where a play area has been specially created in partnership with road safety organizations to introduce young children to the rules of the road.
A cycle path connects the seafront to the town center of Cagnes-sur-Mer. The seaside ride continues along the Promenade du Littoral, which runs alongside the monumental "Banc de Poissons" sculpture and the Hippodrome de la Côte d'Azur. You can enjoy a wide space that allows for easy sharing between cyclists and pedestrians all the way to the outskirts of Villeneuve-Loubet, at the mouth of the Loup River. This section of the greenway offers beautiful seascapes and allows you to admire Marina Baie des Anges and its marina.
