Nestled in the Pas-de-Calais, the Lawe greenway follows the route of a former railway line connecting Bully-Grenay in BriasThis unique route winds through a landscape shaped by mining history, following the River Lawe and passing through iconic towns such as as Haillicourt, Bruay-la-Buissière, Divion, Houdain, Beugin, Bajus and Diéval. The unpaved track is usable in Mountain bike or hybrid bike in dry weather, and charmed by its bucolic atmosphere and authenticity.
It's an invitation to explore with family or friends, by bike or by e-bike, provided you're prepared for a few muddy sections. Right from the start in Haillicourt, the track runs alongside slag heaps planted with vines and reveals, here and there, vestiges of the railway's past: mGatekeeper's houses, forgotten old stations, warehouses overgrown with vegetationIn Bruay-la-Buissière, the greenway becomes a dedicated cycle path, with parking and rest areas, ideal for a break.
The route intersects the Via Francigena (GR145)This allows long-distance hikers to venture there as well. Although the route is not fully marked, it is possible to consult the map of the Lawe greenway to plan your route and identify connection points.
Among the notable sites: the Lawe trail near the lake (note: bicycles are prohibited), the open landscapes between Beugin and Bajus, or the verdant panoramas around Diéval. Nearby, other greenways offer possible extensions: the Cavalier Béthune–Divion, Rider Houdain–Haillicourt or Lawe Park in Bruay.
A secluded, authentic route, perfect for a green getaway off the beaten track.
