The Vauvert-Gallician greenway offers a superb immersion into the heart of the Camargue region of the Gard department. This 7 km route, entirely safe and secure, follows the Philippe Lamour canal and invites you to discover the unspoiled nature typical of this Camargue area. Ideal for families, this cycle path, accessible to both traditional bicycles and e-bikes, offers a safe ride suitable for all ages.
From the very start in Vauvert, the long road winds through vineyards and orchards, offering breathtaking views of the Vistre plain, the Pic Saint-Loup, and, in the distance, the Cévennes mountains. As you travel towards Gallician, the Camargue reveals its treasures: marshes, reedbeds, and ponds, home to herons, egrets, and Camargue horses. You might also catch a glimpse of the iconic black bulls that have made the region famous. Biodiversity is at its peak here, making each stop a truly enchanting interlude.
Along the route, benches and observation points offer opportunities to pause and admire this unique landscape. Upon arriving in Gallician, extend your exploration to the marina by crossing through the village. There, the Rhône-Sète Canal invites you to relax or enjoy a picnic.
This greenway connects to EuroVelo 2 in Gallician:
EuroVelo 17, the Via Rhôna in its final phase towards Aigues-Mortes and the sea, or which can be followed uphill towards Avignon and the Rhône Valley.
EuroVelo 8: the Mediterranean by bike, continuing along the coast of Languedoc Roussillon, Occitanie towards Spain or conversely, going back up through the landscapes of Provence and the Var hinterland towards the French Riviera and Italy.
