Winding through the Provençal hinterland, the greenway linking Barjols to Meyrargues follows a former railway line, offering a peaceful and safe route for cycling enthusiasts. This route is approximately 45 km crosses the Var and Bouches-du-Rhône departments, linking several picturesque towns such as Rians, Jouques and VaragesDesigned for use by all, it is ideally suited for family outings, for fans of traditional cycling or e-bikes, wishing to enjoy the varied landscapes between vineyards, pine forests and wooded hills.
From Meyrargues, the route initially follows the EDF canal, ensuring pleasant progress over relatively flat terrain. At Jouques, the route rejoins the old railway line, although some sections still require improvements.Saint-Bacchi aqueduct constitutes a key point on the route, marking the transition between Bouches-du-Rhône and Var. Shortly after Rians, the track stabilizes alongside old railway structures and former stations rehabilitated into rest areas.
The major attractions along this route make it a true journey through Provençal history and heritage. The castle of Saint-Martin-de-Pallieres proudly dominates his perched villageMeanwhile, Barjols reveals its fountains and wash houses, remnants of its industrial past linked to leather tanning.
