Green Way Pont l'Abbé - Pluguffan - Quimper

From Quimper to the Bigouden region by bike

Located in Britain South FinistèreThis greenway has been converted into a hiking trail on a former railway line. Between Quimper, Pluguffan et Pont-l'Abbé. It features a 17 km route offering a peaceful, family-friendly experience in a natural setting. Its shaded path, appreciated during hot weather, will take you to Pont-l'Abbé and its port on its riverFrom there you will have plenty of opportunity to reach the sea via small roads.

Following the old railway line, this stabilized path is ideal for outdoor activities such as cycling, walking, or running. Enthusiasts of e-bikes (electrically assisted bicycles) they will find suitable terrain, perfect for effortlessly exploring the charm of the Bigouden countryThe atmosphere is often forest-like and the low visitor numbers make it a calm place, far from the urban bustle. 

This shaded route winds through bucolic landscapes from Quimper, gently descending towards Pont-l'Abbé. The endpoint holds some delightful surprises with its picturesque harbor and peaceful surroundings. You can now start from Quimper city center, while in Pont-l'Abbé, the starting point is near the Cinéville cinema, close to a historic wash house and a recycling center.

By consulting the map of the greenway, you will see that it provides an excellent base for exploring the surroundings of the Pays Bigouden. This greenway connects in particular to the greenway of the old Birinik railway which allows you to push all the way to the sea, the Pointe de la Torche, St Guénolé, the Eckmulh lighthouse and the southern point of Cornwall. On the Quimper side, the route also allows you to continue towards Douarnenez, the sardine capital via another greenway from Guengat.

This trail is appealing for its authenticity in the section after Pluguffan: its sandy surface, forest setting, and low traffic make it a peaceful place, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. However, its basic layout requires appropriate equipment, especially for cyclists and other users of all-terrain scooters, and gravel bikes
