Green Way Villeneuve sur Lot - Le Temple (Lot Valley)

The Villeneuve-sur-Lot - Le Temple Green Way is an ideal route for a family outing along the Lot Valley. This safe cycle path is built on the old railway line that connected Villeneuve-sur-Lot to Tonneins.

The Green Way begins in Sainte-Livrade-sur-Lot, east of the village, at the intersection with the D911. The first 700 meters will take you to the Gamot Spring, a peaceful spot where you can take a break and have a drink. Next, you'll pass silos and the SML (Société des Mines de Loire) until you reach the old Sainte-Livrade train station, which can serve as the starting point for your ride. There, you'll take a cycle path, first on the road and then on the sidewalk, following the old railway line. The Green Way then joins the Avenue de Bordeaux (D911L), where you'll continue on a cycle path alongside this road. You'll cross the D911 at the intersection with the D911L to reach the second section of the Green Way, which was developed in 2015. 

This recently opened section of the Green Way offers an excellent surface, ideal for a family outing. You'll descend into the undergrowth to the bridge over the Pic stream, where you can stop and enjoy the shade of the trees. This natural site at Griffoul is a pleasant spot for a family picnic. The Green Way then continues across fields, in full sunshine, to the old Fongrave train station. You'll pass through two short sections on footpaths, which will allow you to access houses or cross the railway right-of-way. At kilometer 8, you'll reach Le Temple-sur-Lot, where the Green Way ends at the edge of the D966, without a connection to Castelmoron-sur-Lot. 

If you wish to extend your walk, you can continue straight ahead for one kilometer to an underpass beneath the D911, then follow a path parallel to this road. The safe crossing of Temple-sur-Lot will then take you along roads to Castelmoron-sur-Lot, a total distance of 4,8 km. To fully enjoy this greenway, you can choose from various types of accommodation.
