The Mauguio Pays de l'Or greenway is a unique cycle route, stretching for nearly 13 km and encompassing the municipalities of Mauguio and Valergues. This cycle path allows cyclists, walkers, and families to discover the diverse landscapes of the Pays de l'Or region, while enjoying a green alternative to car travel on the outskirts of the Montpellier metropolitan area. Along this greenway, visitors can admire the beauty of the Étang de l'Or lagoon, a must-see in the region, located very close to the greenway around Mauguio.
This greenway is a key route for active transportation in the heart of the Hérault region. It now connects to Montpellier-Fréjorgues Airport. It ensures continuity with the greenways leading from Montpellier to the seaside resorts of Carnon and Palavas. It links the two EuroVelo routes, the Mediterranean by Bike (EuroVelo 8) and the end of the ViaRhôna (EuroVelo 17), as well as the Lido greenway which leads to La Grande Motte. It also connects to the greenways starting from Lunel in Valergues. Eventually, starting from Montpellier, it will be possible to cycle the entire circumnavigation of the Mauguio Lagoon (also known as the Étang de l'Or), offering spectacular views of the Petite Camargue, the canals, the coastal resorts, and the sea.
