Map of the Madine Lake Green Way

The Green Way of Lake Madine is an ideal route for families who wish to enjoy a bike ride or a walk in an exceptional natural setting.

This 4km long cycle path offers excellent surface quality, making it suitable even for rollerblading.

The route begins at the Lac de Madine 1 base, where you can rent bicycles or rollerblades if you don't have your own. The Green Way runs alongside Lac de Madine, offering magnificent views of its sparkling waters. You'll also pass by the harbor, where you can stop for a break at a bar-restaurant for refreshments. If you'd like to extend your ride, you can continue along the sandy path that circles the entire lake. This 12-km-long trail offers a diverse landscape, from ponds and woods to wild areas designated as a nature reserve.

However, it's worth noting that this trail is better suited to mountain bikes or hybrid bikes and can be challenging in places, especially in wet weather. Additionally, you'll have to ride on a road for 2,5 km before reaching the village of Montsec. If you plan to cycle the entire loop around the lake, it's recommended that you consult the cycle path map to familiarize yourself with the different routes available. The map will also help you locate points of interest to visit along the way, such as the Madine-Heudicourt recreation areas, the Madine-Nonsard harbor, the golf course and the future Maison de la Promenade (Promenade House), as well as the Montsec hill with its American monument.

If you wish to extend your stay in the region, you will find several accommodation options to suit all budgets. You can choose to stay in a gîte, a hotel, a campsite, or a bed and breakfast. These establishments will offer comfortable accommodation after a day of hiking or cycling. Before setting off, make sure you have the appropriate equipment for your chosen activity.

During your walk, it is essential to respect the surrounding environment. Stay on the marked trails, do not litter, and be mindful of the local flora and fauna. Lake Madine is a Natura 2000 protected site and a National Hunting and Wildlife Reserve, so it is important to preserve its natural beauty.
