The Green Way – Ouvèze Cycle Route, located in the department of Vaucluse, is an invitation to explore the Provence otherwise. Developed by the Vaison Ventoux Community of Municipalities and its partners, this cycle path largely follows theformer railway line linking Orange to Buis-les-BaronniesToday, it offers a route of 25 km which alternates portions shared lanes and sections of greenway, ideal for both family outings only for road bike, e-bike or gravel bike enthusiasts.
By consulting the map of the Green Way – Ouvèze cycle route, one can quickly identify the key stages of the route: Sablet, Séguret, Vaison-la-Romaine, Crestet, Entrechaux and, eventually, Mollans-sur-OuvèzeEach of these municipalities has a unique character. Sablet seduced by its winding alleyways and covered passages called "soustets", while Séguret, listed among the "Most Beautiful Villages of France", evokes a Provençal nativity scene dominated by the remains of a feudal castle. Vaison-la-Romaine, an essential step, unfolds its exceptional ancient heritage including theatre, Roman bridge and museums, not forgetting the perched medieval townFurther east, Crestet and Entrechaux open onto the landscapes of Provençal baronies and the foothills of Ventoux.
The unique feature of this route lies in its balance between heritage and nature. The Dentelles de Montmirail, the Voconces hills and Mont Ventoux they create a magnificent setting where they mingle vineyards, olive groves and hilltop villagesThe greenway thus offers a safe and peaceful setting, conducive to quiet exploration, while also allowing for sporting outings.
In the future, this cycle route will be connected to the Via Venaissia and the ViaRhôna, major route rlinking Lake Geneva to the MediterraneanIt will thus become part of a vast regional cycling network, giving the possibility to travel even further… always by bike.
