La Sauer greenway (Lembach – Seltz) unfolds its 50 kilometers in the north of Bas-Rhin, between the Northern Vosges Regional Natural Park and the banks of the Rhine. This cycle path, ideal for a family outing, alternates between dedicated sections and quiet stretches on minor roads. Thanks to its gentle profile, it is easily rideable on a classic bike or a... From Lembach onwards, the scene is set: medieval castles, remains of the Maginot Line and the majestic Four à Chaux fortification They highlight the strategic importance of this valley. Further on, Woerth It bears witness to the famous battle of 1870, its museum housed in the former castle immersing visitors in Alsatian history. The greenway then continues towards Betschdorf and Soufflenheim, villages emblematic of pottery, where artisan workshops perpetuate ancestral know-how.
Along the way, the landscapes become more diverse: deep forests, pink sandstone rocks, traditional orchards and picturesque villages follow one another. The Sauer Valley Greenway, linking Durrenbach to Lembach, is an ideal route for a family bike ride.
This cycle path, built on a former railway line, offers a 13 km route on its own dedicated track, providing optimal safety for cyclists of all levels. To begin this wonderful adventure, simply follow the RD27 from Lembach for 1,5 km to reach the path. The first 3 km section of the Green Way is made of high-quality concrete.
This section is particularly pleasant, as it winds through wooded areas and sometimes runs alongside the La Sauer river. Cyclists can thus enjoy a peaceful, natural setting throughout their journey. The next 10 km of the path are paved with red asphalt and are 2,50 m wide, making it easy to rollerblade.
