St Chinian - Maureilhan Green Way

This is a greenway just the way we like them! In just under 25 km, all the charms of the Béziers hinterland and the Hérault region unfold. Starting from St Chinian, a renowned wine-growing area with its AOP vineyards, wine center, and winemakers' cellars, you're in the Haut Languedoc, with its rolling hills, vineyards, and character, right on the edge of the Regional Natural Park. Next, you'll reach the Orb, a Mediterranean river, at Céssenon-sur-Orb. It's well worth stopping to visit the old village and its heritage. Then you'll follow the Orb for several kilometers: a perfect opportunity to stop at one of the inviting beaches for a break or a dip. You can also rent a canoe at the Réals base, a great way to combine different activities during your trip. Finally, the old railway line turns due south across the vast plain towards Cazouls-lès-Béziers and eventually Maureilhan. From there, you're not far from the main Canal du Midi route from Toulouse to Sète, and you can join it at Capestang, Colombiers, or Béziers by taking quiet country roads. In short, a complete cycling route with plenty of opportunities for sightseeing, relaxation, and activities. It's well worth a short weekend, a longer stay, or a holiday in the quality accommodations this beautiful region has to offer (hotels, campsites, bed and breakfasts, gîtes, etc.). Slow tourism awaits!
