This 23,5 km section of The Blue Route - Moselle Saône by Bike takes you from Auxonne to Pontailler-sur-Saône, alternating between river landscapes and peaceful countryside. 

The route begins at the foot of the fortifications ofAuxonne and runs alongside the Saône before heading into more rural paths.

The route passes through several villages where biodiversity and local heritage are celebrated, before reaching Pontailler-sur-Saone, charming river city.

Stops and discoveries along the route

  • much forg A remarkable natural site with a gravel pit rehabilitated into a biodiversity preservation area. A landscaped path and a wooden footbridge offer a beautiful immersion in nature.
  • Soissons-sur-Nacey : A hiking trail marked with explanatory panels allows you to learn more about the local flora and fauna.
  • Auxonne : A city steeped in history where you can discover the remains of Vauban's fortifications, the Louis XI castle and the Notre-Dame church.

Practical information

  • Northbound to Southbound From Pontailler-sur-Saône, the route initially follows the Saône before passing through departmental roads between Vielverge and Flammerans (D116 and D20D). After a rockier section, the route rejoins the banks of the Saône as far as Auxonne.
  • Southbound to Northbound Leaving Auxonne, the route passes through the port and meadows before reaching the Saône. A section of road then leads to Flammerans, then to Vielverge before rejoining the river near Pontailler-sur-Saône.
  • Liaison : A connection to Dijon exists at Lamarche-sur-Saône, although partially marked and requiring a hybrid or mountain bike on some forest sections.
