The Avesnois Green Way, also known as the Emerald Trail, invites you to explore 30 km of diverse landscapes across the Hauts-de-France region. A former railway line that has been rehabilitated, it stretches from Maubeuge to Fourmies, offering a route perfectly suited for cycling, walking, and rollerblading. Recently renovated, it now boasts a smooth, well-maintained asphalt surface, ideal for all types of travel.

The trail winds through picturesque hedgerows, peaceful forests, and charming villages. You'll discover points of interest such as the glass museum in Sars-Poteries, as well as picnic areas for well-deserved breaks. Accessible year-round and suitable for people with reduced mobility, this greenway combines modern comfort with immersion in nature. A true haven of tranquility for outdoor enthusiasts and those curious about local culture.

Located in the Avesnois region, also known as "Little Switzerland of the North", this greenway offers a picturesque route through the hedgerows and forests of the region. 

With a total length of 30 kilometers, the Avesnois Green Way is divided into two sections. 

The first section, 3 kilometers long, connects Ferrière-la-Grande to Ferrière-la-Petite. This section has a reinforced stabilized surface, making it quite smooth. The second section, 27 kilometers long, connects Glageon to Ferrière-la-Petite. This section has a smooth, easy-rolling asphalt surface, making it accessible to all types of bicycles, including road bikes. Rollerbladers and wheelchair users can also use this cycle path. Although there is no specifically designed bridle path, the wide, grassy buffer zone allows horses to pass. 

To plan your family outing on the Avesnois Green Way, consult the cycle path map. This map will help you locate points of interest along the route, such as the Earthenware and Pottery Museum in Ferrière-la-Petite, the Delmotte Mill in Sars-Poteries, and the Glass Museum in Sars-Poteries. You can also find information on amenities available along the cycle path, such as restaurants, shops, and accommodations. If you wish to extend your stay in the region, you will find several accommodation options near the Avesnois Green Way. You can choose to stay in a gîte (self-catering cottage), a hotel, a campsite, or a bed and breakfast. These accommodations will offer all the necessary comforts to relax after a day of cycling with your family.
