Scarpe Plain Greenway: Orchies - Fenain

The Green Way of the Scarpe Plain unfolds its 12 km between Fenain and Orchies, in the Northern DepartmentThis bucolic route, accessible to the whole family, follows an old railway line and offers a serene setting for all lovers of cycling, e-biking or walking, or even horse riding thanks to a dedicated sandy track on part of the route.

From the starting point in Fenain, the route crosses meadows, follows natural hedgerows, and enters the majestic Marchiennes state forest. This green route captivates with its diverse landscapes: pastures, wetlands, undergrowth, cultivated fields, and even a few remnants of railway tracks visible here and there. Cyclists enjoy a stabilized surface, ideal for hybrid and e-bikes. The completely flat route allows for an effortless ride, punctuated by picnic tables and points of interest.

Among the cultural stops, don't miss the Maison de notre Histoire (House of Our History) in Fenain or the local history museum in Marchiennes. Fancy a gourmet break? Stop at La Croix ou Pile, in the heart of the forest. And to extend the adventure, you can continue to the Scarpe towpath, converted into a greenway over 37 km between Douai and Mortagne-du-Nord.
