The Tour de Gironde à Vélo is an ideal route for families who wish to discover the beauty of the region by bike.

With its 430 km of cycle paths, it offers a unique experience by allowing you to visit 10 must-see sites in the Gironde, 5 of which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites.

To begin this adventure, it is recommended to consult the Tour de Gironde à Vélo map to plan your route. This map allows you to visualize the different stages of the route and choose the sites you wish to visit first.

During the trip, you can stay in various types of accommodation suitable for cyclists. Gîtes, hotels, campsites, and bed and breakfasts are all available options along the route. These establishments offer services specifically for cyclists, such as secure bike storage and repair facilities. The Tour de Gironde à Vélo also boasts numerous dedicated cycle paths, 90% of which are safe and well-maintained.

These dedicated cycle paths allow cyclists to fully enjoy the scenery without having to share the road with motorists. This makes the route even more pleasant and safer for families traveling with children. In addition to cycle paths, the Tour de Gironde à Vélo follows part of the Vélodyssée and Canal des 2 Mers à Vélo routes.

These renowned routes offer diverse landscapes, ranging from the vineyards of the Médoc to the Atlantic beaches and the forests of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park. Along the way, it's possible to enjoy refreshing breaks in carefully selected natural spots. Examples include the Bruges marshland nature reserve near Bordeaux, Lake Laubesc in Cassac in the Entre-deux-Mers region, and the Gât Mort lagoon in Louchats in southern Gironde.

These natural spots offer well-deserved moments of relaxation and refreshment. The Tour de Gironde by Bike also allows you to discover the region's must-see tourist sites. For example, the Abbey of La Sauve-Majeure, a masterpiece of Romanesque art, or the Blaye Citadel, fortified by Vauban and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These cultural visits enrich the journey and provide a deeper understanding of the history and rich heritage of the Gironde.
