Description

The heart of Brittany and the Atlantic coast from Roscoff to Hendaye

The Vélodyssée, a cycling route of over 1,300 km between Roscoff and Hendaye, offers an unforgettable cycling adventure for families, couples, or groups of friends. Following safe cycle paths, it hugs the Atlantic coast, revealing an incredible diversity of landscapes: Breton canals, Vendée marshes, ocean beaches, pine forests, wild dunes, and Basque cliffs. Accessible to all, including e-bikes, it's the ideal route for a first cycling trip.

From Roscoff, the Vélodyssée cycle route crosses Brittany inland, joining the Nantes-Brest Canal, then glides towards the Loire estuary via Nantes and Saint-Nazaire. Each stage offers its own treasures: the marshes of Île-d'Olonne in the Vendée region, the family-friendly beaches of Saint-Brévin, the medieval towers of La Rochelle, and the legendary Fort Boyard. The route continues through the Marais Poitevin, to the majestic Dune du Pilat, before reaching the long beaches of the Landes region, then the Basque coast and its iconic resorts: Bayonne, Biarritz, and Hendaye.

Consulting the Vélodyssée map allows you to plan your stages, locate accommodations with the Accueil Vélo label, and discover the many possible connections. In Roscoff, it intersects the Vélomaritime (EuroVelo 4); in Nantes, it shares a section with EuroVelo 6.

Certified as a EuroVelo route since 2024, La Vélodyssée guarantees a high level of comfort and services. Discover the West Coast by bike, crossing the regions of Brittany, Pays de la Loire, and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Perfectly suited for families, it invites you to relax, swim, sample local products, and contemplate exceptional panoramas between land and sea.
